Good afternoon everyone

It was expected the Prime Minister would announce today how our industry deals with non-payment of rent due to loss of jobs triggered by COVID-19.  Scott Morrison has advised this is a sensitive subject and there is a lot to consider so he has delayed the announcement until next week.

The Real Estate Institute of Australia has advised they are working with the Government in regards to support for tenants and landlords.  The industry is very supportive of keeping all tenants in their homes; however, they also want to ensure landlords are not disadvantaged.

The industry is on tenderhooks but the Prime Minister did acknowledge today the Government is dealing with a very complex issue.
